We Need to Talk About Woojin

Updated: Apr 3, 2021

Hey guys,

So today, I am going to be talking about everything surrounding Woojin lately. Because of the topic of this post, I wanted to insert a trigger warning. The trigger warning is for sexual assault and harassment, so if either of those thing trigger, you don't have to read this post. Mental health is important, and I want who ever reads this blog to feel safe and comfortable. You don't have to read the entire page if you can't handle it and remember to a beautiful and wonderful day.

If you have no idea who Woojin is, he is is an ex-member of the boy group, Stray Kids. Woojin was accused of sexual assault and harassment by an anonymous account on Twitter. Victim said that Woojin tried to use his celebrity status as a way to pick them up, when they refused, and he started to touch them without their consent.

*These are the tweets that were posted*

After these tweets came out, Woojin released the following in his defense,

Everyone didn't respond well to this statement for two main reasons:

  1. It seems as if Woojin is just brushing something as serious as a sexual assault allegation as just an 'absurd rumor'

  2. Woojin did not provide any proof of him being innocent, he just said he was

There are a few other things that heavily support that Woojin actually did the things that this person is saying, such as him being completely blacklisted from the Korean entertainment industry and the common shared idea that the company and solo promotions are fake.

Last things I want to say are that we need to stop treating this as the regular k-pop stan Twitter tea and we need to stop victim shaming this person. To all of the people that are dragging other idols into this. People are trying to drag NCT, ATEEZ, and BTS into this whole Woojin thing. Someone made up a fake sexual assault story and said Jungkook from BTS did it. All of you that are making false accusations are making it harder for actual sexual assault victims to come forward and be believed. To all the people that victim shaming this person, that is not okay at all.

Finally, guys we don't personally know these idols. We made to think that we do but in reality we don't. To all of the STAYs that are sad and disappointed, I'm sorry. It's hard to accept that someone that you thought was a good person really isn't. And to the victim, I hope that you can ultimately heal and grow stronger.

Bye, guys I'll see you next time
