K-Pop Opinions That I Have Now In 2020

Hey,

I know that the whole unpopular K-pop opinions trend died years ago but I have some opinions that have changed a lot over my time of being a K-pop fan.

1) JYP Entertainment and JYP the person are both terrible from what I can tell

JYPE has somehow managed to make a front that was JYP is the best company in the Big Three and treats their artist with the upmost care, but their is have tons of times that JYP does not care about their idols. From the over-sexualization of minors such as SOMI, HyunA, and Tzuyu (Twice), to completely leaving their boy groups in the dust to fend for themselves (DAY6 and GOT7), to over working their female idol groups (Twice and ITZY). My last bone to pick with JYP, and it is something that is seen throughout the industry in general but JY Park is one of the few that has said it flat-out. He has said and managed to 'brainwash' his idol to believe that people that don't meet the K-pop weight standard can't give a good performance, because they will look slow. This clearly not true, because there are so many artists that don't fit the weight standard and are able to give amazing performances. Has JYP seen a Beyonce performance? She doesn't look like the K-pop weight standard, but can serve a performance like nobody else.

2) BLACKPINK is not completely mistreated

Okay, this might get me disowned by the entire BLINK community, but I am going to say what I want because this is my blog page and I can talk about what ever I want. BLACKPINK is not that mistreated compared to idols that actually went through way worse than what BLACKPINK has been through. For everything they have done for YG Entertainment, they should be treated better but they could have it a lot worse. Mistreatment that needs to be called out as extreme over-working, getting kicked out of dorms, and over-sexualizing of minors. Is BLACKPINK treated poorly for what they have done for YG? Yes. But is it the absolute worst? No. I believe that BLACKPINK is mismanaged in most ways, not mistreated. The mistreatment I can completely see is the misogyny within that air conditioner looking building.

3) Technically BTS is paving the way

This is the biggest debate and argument going on right now, mainly when it comes to things about western expansion and popularity. People love to argue about who paved the way for K-pop in the west, it comes down to BTS or PSY/other second generation groups. BTS did make it popular in the west to like K-pop, while PSY was a one-hit global take-over wonder. But some ARMYs are taking the entire BTS paved the way thing too far, especially when it comes to BLACKPINK. BLACKPINK's Jennie talked about wanting to be a group that inspires people, and ARMYs took what she said and twisted, in order to be able to hate on her. Some BTS fans need to learn idols can walk the path that BTS laid or they can blaze their own. But that choice won't change the fact that BTS are trail blazers for the K-pop industry.

4) If you don't like what an idol is doing, you have to always need to announce you issues

This is something that mad yesterday, so I was scrolling on HyunA's Instagram page and she made a post to support her boyfriend, Dawn. And someone was mad that she was posting this on HER Instagram page instead of talking about her comeback. Last time I checked, HyunA was on a break for health reasons and no one else was mad about this besides this person. 1)Idols don't owe us anything as fans, they don't at all. 2) This is HyunA's page, she can post whatever she wants. And if you don't like what is posted then get off. 3) What made you think that you can talk out of the side of your neck about our queen, and you wouldn't get dragged by the stans. It is okay to hold your idols accountable for actual issues like sexism, racism, or cultural appropriation. But if you have a small problem with an idol like them posting pictures and videos with their partners or they not talking about their comeback while taking a break for health reasons; please quietly remove yourself from the fandom and we will not miss you.

5) The U.S. thinks that K-pop is a joke

I really don't know whether people will agree with me on this or not but I really don't care. U.S. expansion is pretty dumb.I am not saying that every idol shouldn't want their music playing all over the world; I am saying that U.S. doesn't care about K-pop at all and it is seen as an easy money grab for viewership. The west knows that we are deicated to our favorite groups and artists and that we will watch absolutely anything that even mentions our favorite groups. So ever mentioning BLACKPINK or BTS will be enough to get us involved. BTS is the biggest group right now and programs like the Grammys are aware of this so they will tease all of us with a small part of a performance to get us to watch, but I can promise BTS will not win an award for a while if they ever do. This is coming from a black person, if they don't take black people seriously what in God's name makes you think that they are going to take a group of seven men sing pop songs not in English seriously. Honestly.

6) Fourth Gen. K-pop is boring me

This is going to be a pretty short one, because I honestly don't understand why I have this opinion but I just kind of do. The fourth generation of K-pop is not that interesting, there are some amazing groups but most can only hold my attention for two to three comeback then I lose interest. The only people that find interest in are ITZY, Everglow, ATEEZ and Treasure. Most groups are a two to three comeback wonders for me. I was really into (G)I-DLE in the beginning with "Latata", "Han" and "Senorita" but I don't vibe with there other songs that much an more. If anyone has recommendations let me know.

7) BLINKs are the reason Jennie gets so much hate

This is another one that might get my dragged by my fellow BLINKs but I again don't care, y'all are the reason that Jennie gets so much hate most of the time. I don't understand the obsession that some of you have with making Jennie Kim out to be your problematic queen. It is very strange even looking from inside the fandom, Jennie just wants to left the heck alone. I don't get y'all obsession with twisting her words to make it out to be something that would cause a fan war. All of you need to stop, Jennie is nothing more than a girl. My advice to other fandoms, if it did come straight out of Jennie's mouth than ignore it, because it is just immature BLINKs and BLONKs trying to stir the pot out of boredom.

8) Being mad over line distribution is meaningless

Okay, I used to understand getting mad over line distribution like three years ago, but now I couldn't car less to be honest. I find getting mad over who has the least vs the most lines to be so counter productive. I don't know if it was because I started getting into K-pop while I was in middle school and now that I am high school student I don't have as much time on my hands anymore. I honestly I have no clue, but some songs sound better with the uneven lines than they do when it is evened out. I only care about the finished product sounding good and not about how much time does each person get to sing.

9) I really don't care if sub vocalist are not good singers

This opinion came about mostly because of the "More & More" promotions that Twice had during the summer, and people got angry at Momo for sounding bad during an encore stage of all things. Encore stages are meant for the artists to have fun and celebrate, but that is besides the point. Momo is a sub-vocalist, so singing is such a minor part of her position within the group so I absolutely don't care whether she is an actually good singer or not. I care if lead and main vocalist, such as Nayeon, Jeongyeon, and Jihyo sound good because that is what they are supposed as it being an extremely large part of their positions. Momo is there mainly to dance and she does that insanely well, so I don't care if she is an amazing singer. Also it was an ENCORE STAGE, it isn't that big of a deal.

10) If you are over the age of 14 and are causing problems on K-pop stan Twitter find something better to do.

If you that anything from this post, this must be it because this one is the most important. If you have a social media account and you are acting like a troll, I hope that you are at a maximum age of 14. If you are over the age of 14 please go find something more worthy of your time to do, because you are too old to be playing these games.
