I am back with some information about my favorite K-pop group of all time: BLACKPINK. BLACKPINK is one the number biggest K-pop girl groups at the moment, all lot of people are discovering the group at the moment. So I think it's a good idea to discuss the story of the group, because new fans are missing the last three years of history. So, let's get into it!
BLACKPINK's preparation for their debut back in November 2011, but the members and group name were not revealed until June 29, 2016. The four member girl group debuted on August 8, 2016 with their single album: Square One, under the YG Entertainment company. BLACKPINK is the second girl group that has come out of the label, the prior girl group was 2NE1. Their fandom name is BLINK.

History of BLACKPINK:
BLACKPINK was the only girl group that YG Entertainment had after 2NE1. BLACKPINK debuted on August 8th, 2016 with the debut single album, Square One. Square One consisted of two songs named "Boombayah" and "Whistle". They charted at number one and two on the Billboard World Digital Song Chart, which made BLACKPINK the fastest act to achieve. the girls won their first music show on Inkigayo, only thirteen days after debut. On November 1, 2016, the second single album entitled Square Two. The single album had two tracks named "Playing With Fire" and "Stay". "Play With Fire" reached number one on the Billboard World Digital Song Chart, and was the first K-pop girl group to chart on the Canadian Hot 100. In Korea, "Playing With Fire" charted at three and "Stay" at ten. BLACKPINK earned several rookie awards at the Aisan Artist Awards, Melon Music Awards, Golden Disc Awards, Seoul Music Awards, and Gaon Chart Music Awards. On January 17, 2017, BLACKPINK revealed the name of their fan club- BLINK. On June 22, the girls released their single "As If It's Your Last". The song peaked at number one only one day after begin released. On August 30, 2017, they made their Japanese debut with their self-titled Japanese EP. The EP debuted and peaked at number one on the Oricon Album Chart.
In January of 2018, BLACKPINK prepackaged their Japanese debut as Re:Blackpink. On June 15, 2018, the girls released their first Korean EP, named Square Up. The lead single off the EP, "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" debuted at 55 on the Billboard Hot 110, making BLACKPINK the highest charting Korean girl group on the chart. The EP topped the Billboard World Albums Chart and the Gaon chart in Korea. The music video for "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" reached 36.2 million views in 24 hours. July 24-25 was BLACKPINK 's first Japanese tour, then on September 12, they had their first Seoul concert. The Japanese and Korean performances were followed by a world tour that lasted from 2019 to early 2020. In October of 2018, BLACKPINK signed with Interscope Records in a global partnership with YG Entertainment. Jennie debuted solo with the song "Solo" on November of 11, 2018. BLACKPINK released their Japanese full studio album on November 23. In March, the group became the first ever K-pop girl group to cover Billboard magazine. Their extended play, Kill This Love was released on April 2019. The group performed at the 2019 Coachella Festival on April 12 and 19, making them the K-pop group to do so.
On May 28, 2020, BLACKPINK collaborated with Lady Gaga on a track entitled "Sour Candy" for her Chromatica album. On June 26, BLACKPINK released their pre-release single "How You Like That". On July 28, the girls released their collaboration with Selena Gomez called "Ice Cream" On August, 30, BLACKPINK won their first MTVVMA award, for Song of the Summer with 'How You Like That". On September 8, Netflix announced the BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky documentary that is set to release October 14. On October 2, released BLACKPINK their first full studio album called The Album with eight tracks and the title track, Lovesick Girls.
