Female K-pop Solo Artists That I Love, and You Should Stan Them Too

BoA is a female solo artist under SM Entertainment that debut on August 25, 2000. She is the girl that went viral for walking upside down while being held by her backup dancers. BoA debuted with the song "Peace B". BoA has been one of the few solo artists that has stayed in the K-pop social mindset. SM celebrated her 20th anniversary with the Our Beloved BoA album, which was an album of BoA covers by other SM artists. Some of BoA hits are "Woman", "Shout It Out", "The Shadow", and "No.1".

Chungha is a former member of the temporary girl group I.O.I that was created on the survival show, Produce 101. Chungha is under MNH Entertainment. Chungha was ranked 4th on Produce 101, and was the main dancer, lead vocalist, and rapper of I.O.I. After I.O.I disbanded in the end of 2017, she debuted as a solo artists on June 7, 2017 with the songs "Week" and "Hands On Me". Chungha released hits such as "Rollercoaster", "Luv U", "Snapping", "Gotta Go", "Stay Tonight", and "Play".

Hyolyn is solo artist that was a member of the second generation girl group, SISTAR and the sub-unit, SISTAR19. Her stage name while she was in SISTAR was Hyorin. She acted in the second season of the K-drama, Dream High and competed in Unpretty Rapstar 2. She started her own company named Brid3. Like most basic Hyolyn fans, I live for her song "Dally" featuring Gray. Stan a successful business queen. Other Hyolyn songs are "Bae", "See Sea", "9 Lives" and "SAY MY NAME".

HyunA is a solo artist that debuted on January 4, 2010 with the song "Change" under CUBE Entertainment. HyunA was a member of the 2009 girl group, 4Minute. But before she was a member of the JYP girl group, Wonder Girls from 2007-2008. In January 2019, she join P NATION. She was a part of the duo Trouble Maker and the co-ed group Triple H. My personally favorite HyunA songs are "Change", "Roll Deep", "How's This", and "Flower Show".


IU is solo artist under EDAM Entertainment, she debuted under Kakao M in September 18, 2008. She is in the Nation's Little Sister category of celebrities. IU released her first album Lost and Found in September 2008. IU starred in K-dramas such as Dream High 1 and 2, Hotel Del Luna, and You Are the Best! IU is known for giving tons of money to charity and worked hard to overcome her less fortunate background. Some popular IU songs are "Good Day", "You & I", "BBIBBI", "Palette", "Peach", and "eight".

Jessi is rapper and singer under P NATION. She debuted under YMC Entertainment on September 15, 2015. Jessi was born in New York, but grew up in New Jersey. She originally debuted in 2005, but took a break from music then re-debuted in the trio Lucky J. She was a mentor on Unpretty Rapstar (1) and won season 2. She also appeared on Sister's Slam Dunk season one. Some of Jessi songs are "Sseunni", "Nunu Nana", "Numb", "Get Up", and "Can You Hear Me".


Somi debuted as a solo artist under The Black Label on June 13th 2019 with the single "Birthday". Before going solo, Somi was known for being on survival shows, such as SIXTEEN and Produce 101. At only 16, she placed first out of 101 trainees. She was the center, lead dancer and vocalist, rapper, face of the group, and maknae of I.O.I. She appeared on Sister's Slam Dunk and Idol Drama Operation Team. She had had a comeback on July 22, 2020 called "What You Waiting For".


Sunmi debuted as a solo artist in February 17, 2014 under MakeUs Entertainment. Shee was a member of the girl group, Wonder Girls, under JYP Entertainment. She left the music industry in 2010 to finish high school. She came back to the industry as a solo artist with the song "24 Hours". In June of 2015 she rejoined the Wonder Girls. After Wonder Girls disbanded, she left JYP and signed with Make Us Entertainment. Some of her biggest hits are "Siren", "Lalalay", "Heroine", and "Gashina".

Taeyeon is a solo artist and a member of one of the most influential girl group of all time, Girl's Generation. She debuted under SM in 2015 as a soloist but in the group in 2007. She also debuted as a part of TTS in April of 2012. Then as a part of the sub unit, Oh!GG on September 5, 2018. Some of Taeyeon's solo work includes "Fine", "Why", "I", "I Got Love" and "11:11".
